OOP MATCHES IN AUCKLAND

The, football season opened to-day with uncertain weather but rain, which had fallen earlier in the day, held off during the matches, and there'were good attendances. The senior cup matches resulted as lollows:—Ponsonby beat Parncll by 17 to :|, City beat Newtown by 17 to and North Shore beat Grafton by 13 to nil. In the junior grade, Parncll beat Ponsonby l.y I) to ;j, City beat Newtown by 15 lo nil.
The following will represent Tukapa, seniors in their match against Stars at Western Park on Thursday afternoon: —Johnson, Storey, Allen, .Steele, Ward, Perry, Seamark, Crowley, Frcwiii, D. George, Mynott, Arthur, McLean, tttannering, and ilouefield.

The annual meeting of the New Plymonth Association Football Club was held (in Saturday, in Mr. (1. H. Saunders' rooms in Queen street. Mr. ft. If. Saunders presided over a fair attendance. A satisfactory report, of the last year's work was presented. The club secured first place in the Northern division, but failed to win the Julian Cup in the play oil with Eltbam, the champions of the Southern division. A vote of thanks to Air i». ISewton lor his services as secretary for the past year was carried unaiiiniouslv.
Air. .1. Smart was elected captain of the club, and Mr. R. Reid vice-captain. Subscriptions were fixed at 5s for playing members.
The following committees were elect - ed: Management commitfee; Messrs. 0 11, Saunders, G. Hartley, '!'. Kaye, and captains of dub; selection committee: Messrs. Smart, R. Held, and T. Kave. The following officers were elected' President. Dr. Walker: vice-presidents. Messrs. A. Anilmry. W. Amburv, Stewart, W. W. Mi.riou, 11. F. liussell, Dr. "\\vlie, ami \Y. l>roome: secretary. Air. Y, Colebeek. Over twenty new members were elected.
