THEATRE ROYAL.
TOM MOORE."
'"■ lorn Moore," an emotional, interesting, and romantic Irish play pleased a very large audience at the Theatre Itoyal on Saturday evening. Outstanding features were Mr. Andrew Mack's exquisite singing, and his remarkable personification of Island's favorite jioet. The "star'' had an exceptionally heavy part, in which he had to pourtray almost every phase of human emotion. And he did it so cleverly, so genuinely, and so naturally that he carried the audience with him the whole evening through. His humor Avas irresistible, his singing u treat. His devotion to his beloved? his self-sacrifice in her behalf, his Irish good nature, and his ever-changing emotions all combined in an exquisite treat. His best numbers were "Love's Youn«Dream," "The Last Hose of Summer"' and "Believe Me, if all those endearing young eliiirnis," his- voice ill the upper register being clear as a hell and exceptionally line. .Miss Jane lu-llon played Bessie Dyke capitally, and her work in the final act Avas immense. Mr. Kendal Weston (Prince of Wales! had a congenial part, and played it well, whilst Sir I'ereival I.ovelaec, hy his own confession a "rake," was ably impersonated by Mr. Martin Aslop. Mrs. Malone was an excellent character, in the hands of Miss Annie Mack Berlein, and Buster (Mr. l<\ Cambourne) ably seconded the principal in the humor of the piece. All the other parts were placed in the hands of deservedly popular artists. The scenery and dressing of the early nineteenth century were very fine, and another splendid feature of the performance was the excellent orchestra. It will be a long time before the New Plymouth public forgets Andrew Mack and'"Tom Moore."
