EAST COAST RAILWAY REQUIREMENTS.

I\t Press Association. \ Auckland, April 30. The Hon. Mr. Millar arrived at Tauvanga this morning. Interviewed by the local railway league regarding the Kast Coast railway and proposed MamaakuTo Puke line (connecting Tauranga dis triet with the Rotorua main line),he said so many lines were in hand that lie did not favor stalling any more until the present lines were completed to a paying point. The completion of the Main Trunk line at the end of next year would i release £300,000, and two other lines would also be completed within that time He freely admitted that the Coast was entitled to railway communication. There were three alternate. routes, but he had heard that the surveyors were unable to find a practical ' route from the Motu. Mr. Worries, M.H.R., stated that he I was through the route the other day, and that he found that a suitable route had been fouud at a reasonable cost. The Minister said it seemed advisable that they should go in for the Mamatu line first. That was only a matter of eighteen miles, raid as soon as the Main Trunk line was completed, he would do all he could to assist the East Coast project.
