MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
STRATFORD. Our correspondent writes: The Mayoral election resulted: F, P. Ralfe 'idi, It. McK. Morrison 222, informal 1-1. The elections of councillors resulted: 0. Saugster .'11:5. W. P. Kirkwood 270, If. N. Linrdet 275, S. Ward 2(1!), 11. ,1. Hopkins 2511, 11. H. Cameron 255, R. 11. liobinson 238, A. Stewart 215, C. D. Cole 212. ,1. McAllister 100, .1. Boon 182, .1. Leydon 17;!. 11, Wilson 151, ,1. Sexton 131, A. .1. Davey 121, J. Smith 121. The first nine were elected. To-day's poll is, so lam informed, the record for the borough election, and, although the excitement did not commence in earnest until after midday, everybody seemed in good heart and good-natured barrack seemed the order of the day. Cabs, traps, ami. in fact, every kind of vehicle obtainable were in great demand, and stablekeepors. no doubt, reaped a small harvest as a result of the aspirations of those who have "no axe to grind," but yet are anxious to give their time and ripe experience of the world's affairs for the benefit of suffering humanity. However, the numbers have gone up, and cherised hopes have been obtained by some and the aspirations of others have received a rude shock. The public have given their decision, and no doubt they are right, and it is to be hoped that' the cordial relations that have ever existed on our Borough Council between Mayor and Councillors of our town will continue and \vith the wave of prosperity that has again reached us through the'successful prices obtained by our dairy industry our town will progress with" leaps anil bounds to that happy state which our central position entitles us. A large crowd awaited final results of the poll, which was declared at 11 p.m. The successful candidates did not address the people, who were expectant. ELTHAM. The election of councillors at Eltham on Wednesday resulted as follows:—]!. Dive 400, T. C. Stunners 301), T. J. Quia 3411, T. B. Crump 340, E. Parrott 341, L. Hill 310, F. Amore 334, K Revel] 315, 10. L. Briant 271), 11. ('!. Carman 277, J. llayward 205, T. Partridge 150. The reluming ollicer declared the first nine elected, (lie result being awaited by a large number of ratepayers till after'one o'clock in the morning. Five hundred and thirty-nine voles were cast for the Mayoralty. Mr. (!. W. Taylor polled 2!)0 votes and Mr. C. A. Wilkinson 213. HAWERA. The figures lor the election of councillors at Hawera were:—.]. Campbell 3-11, K. A. Pacey 341. ]•]. Morrisey 323, 11. K. Whittiiigtou 322, T. ,1. liurrell 255, ,1. Brunette 270, J. Foy 252, P. I!. Wilkinson 231, ,1. Boyd 220, 'll. T. Atkinson 227. The first nine were declared elected.
Mr. B. C. Robbins was elected to the Mayoralty, defeating Mr. 11. 1/ Barton by 220 votes to 175. Four hundred and six votes were polled.
