POLICE COMMISSIONER ATTACKED. Perth, April iU. A sensational attempt was made to shoot Captain Hare, Commissioner of Police. He was sitting in his office reading a report when ex-Corporal Tyler mshcfi in, exclaiming, ''Got you this time," and fired a revolver point Wank. The bullet passed through a paper in
Mr. Hare's liand and lodged in the wall. Mr. ILire grappled with Tyler, who again fired n bullet, which struck his shirt - front, which was heavily starched, causing the bullet to glance oil'. It then struck his shoulder, but did not penetrate. Assistance arrived. ?»n<i Mr. Hare overpowered his maddened assailant. Tyler resigned from tin* police two year.-, ago as a protest against being lined on a charge of insubordination. He has since nursed his grievance, coutinuouslv trying to get the case re-opened.
