STRATFORD TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
Tin' 1 jducation Board divided yesterday to appoint a now committee 01 management for the Stratford Technical School, on tlie motion of Mr. J. J). Morismi. Following oil the* motion, .Mr. Monkhouse moved Unit tlie new Board consist. of three men and one women appointed by the Education Board, time men and olio woman appointed by the.
Stratford school committee, and a representative appointed by each contributing local body. In moving this, Mr. Monk house said there was need l'or bringing Ih;- Board into closer touch with the school than at present, and there was need, too, for establishing the school a:-
a district institution. It was not the Stratford Technical School, but rather a technical school at Stratford. The school had for some time been managed by the Stratford committee, and it .was inevitable thai the school committee and the technical school committee should blend their functions. H was necessary, of course, that the school connnitee should be largely represented, for some of the classes were manual and technical classes under their control. It was necessary, too, to have women on the board, on account of the cookery and dressmaking classes*. In answer to Mr. Adlam, Mr. Monkhouse said the Stratford Borough Council was the only outside contributing body. If the county renewed its contribution it would become entitled to a representtive. , The motion was carried. I
On the motion of Messrs. Tisch and Trimble, "Messrs. Monkhouse, Morison, and Kennedy {East Ward members) and Mrs. Moukhouse were appointed the Board* representatives. Copies of the resolutions will be sent Id ilie Stratford School Committee and the Stratford Borough Council, and they will he asked to appoint their representatives. In answer lo .Mr, Morison, the Chief Inspector said Mr. Tyler held his appointment as superintendent permanently under the Board, ami it was shown (hat thin was necessary in the interest.-; of the school. In discussion, it was pointed out that there was no doubt about the litness of "Mr. Tryer—he was the riyht man in the right place.
