TOXGA i'OR CTU. (Itgiu Our Own Correspondent.) The mud is beginning to show, ami it look's as if there will be nothing but buy for tUe next six months. The umliori.ieo have done nothing this season to lessen the grievance. i'hj Go-vernnii-ni have metalled with burnt papa a quarter of a mile from Mt. .Messenger, leaving threj miles and three-quarters undone. The Clifton County Council have practically done nothing. They •ot a CSO job sandstoning pieces from the Xorth road.lo IV.iki, but the contractor has thrown it up. it was Government, too. lost to the road. It is too wet now for hauling sandstone. Messrs Terry and Co. are metalling taking it away piece by piece. The C.C.C. have been trying to raise it above the flooil, but with iiulifl'erent success. The weather may be drier now that the Uriti sale is over. It was twice postponed on account of the wet, but Monday, the 15th, was more favorabl". The Awakino sales are generally wet, and the lust one was terribly so. The last of the season is put down for the i">th. anil it is hoped >•. will be dry. The trallic is increasing by leaps and bounds, by land anil by sea, the roads notwithstanding. The carriage of grass seed alone has been a very large order. Building, too, is considerable. Mr Foreman, of I'utiki, is getting in the material for a large house, and others for smaller ones. The area to be felled this winter will he considerable. One settler has eighty bullocks to eat the leaves after him.
