Acting-Detective Hunt stated that on March 20 last he met accused. There was then in existence a warrant for his arrest on the present charge, lie said then that he had retained to,get a cigarette business! cleared up, and asked if witness could advise him what was best to do. Witness said he could not advise him, but told him to come along to the detective oilier. On arrival there he had made a statement which witness took down in writing. Evidence was given by other witnesses. Accused reserved his defence, and was committed for trial.
