APPEAL COURT.

Per Press Association. JVelliugtoii, April Hi. The Appeal Court this morning heard applications for striking oil' the roll Flurry Francis and l'raneis Henry Bruges, solicitors. The former, who practised at Cliristclnm-h, had pleaded guilty to several charges of theft, and in January last was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment. There was no appearance for prisoner, and the motion was dismissed, with costs. Bruges also practised in Cliristchurch, and with his managing clerk, Goodman, was convicted of certain trust funds. Goodman was sentenced to two years' imprisonment. Bruges applied for a now trial on the ground that the verdict was against the weight of the evidence.The application was granted, and at the new trial lie was acquitted. After argument in Bruges' case, Bruges was struck oil' the roll of solicitors.
