SAD DROWNING FATALITY.
A PLUCKY WOMAN. Per Press Association. 5 Auckland, Aju-il 10. I A sad drowning accident occurred at v Kiritehero, 2(1 miles from Kawhia, on '' r'riduv. A girl, four years old. named II Klein', ii daughter »f n settler, fell into • a creek', and was swept into u deep hole ll by the strong current. The only wit- '' n'ess was ii chilil of seven. She ran for *•' the child's mother, who jumped in fully " clothed without n moment's hesitation. '" She was swept away by the strong curs rent, but k\p])ened to regain a bunk. ,f Xotliing daunted, the plucky woman " made another attempt to rescue the " child, but without success. [ The child's body was recovered '' and the remains were carried -;ix miles I through a bush track to Ihe burial a place, several settlers taking turns with r carrying the corpse.
