CORRESPONDENCE.
COUNTY WAITERS. To the Editor. Sir,-I was pleased to see that Cr. Tate spoke at the County Council meet I iug on .Monday last in the way he did on behalf of Foreman Evelts. Mr. TaU - knew that Evelts is a good man, and one who should be bidding a better position than he is to-day. Mr. Ceorge seems to have a grievance against Evetts. On February 4 last Kvetts was appointed acting engineer during Mr Skinner's absence, and he recommended , to the Council that there should be an alteration made in the small tunnel at the Tapuae, but Mr Oeorge did not approve of it, as he considered it was Mr. Skinner's duty, but to-day they are making some alterations to the, Inline! It is not so easy to get a foreman like Eeett, who looks well after his road, as it is to get a member for the Council.— 1 tun, etc., -RATEPAYER."
