ATTEMPTED MURDER.
THE CIUUSTCHURCH SENSATION. Per Press Association. Christchurch, April 12. The charge of attempted murder against James Smithers, who was the chief actor in the tragedy at Moorhouse Avenue on April 5, was set do\yii<-for hearing at the police court this morning. The station sergeant explained that Smithers was still confined to the hospital, the wound not having sufficiently recovered to allow him to appear in court this morning. He would therefore ask for a remand till April 19, which was granted.
