Thomas Williams, with one previous conviction, was sentenced to five weeks' imprisonment on one charge, and convicted on two others. . When the express tram, conveying tne sentenced men to Lyltelton gaol was leaving the station, a demonstration was mudi'V a mob, and one man was ar- ', rested for behaviour likely to provoke '■ a breach of the peace.
