UNCLEAN SLAUGHTERING.
BUTCHERS FIXED IN THE NORTH. Per Press Association. Auckland, April 12. At Wninuku yesterday Wm. Howard, butcher of Patttmahoe, was fined £1 and costs, on two charges of breach** of the Slaughtering and Inspection Act, namely, allowing swine within fifty yards of a slaughtering place, and slaughtering in a place other than a registered slaughterhouse. Defendant wa»" also convicted on a charge of feeding swine on raw offal, and ordered to pay costs. J. May pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to keep his slaughter-houso and instruments clean, and was ordered to pay costs. The defendant explained that, having been ill lately, he had been unable to properly supervise the conduct of the place.
