SYDNEY SHEEP SALES. Sydney, April 4. At the sales of New Zealand sheep there was good competition for Lineolns. Mr. Pearce's realised 0 to (iy 2 guineas. In Leicester* one of Hie rams realised 21 guineas, others from two and a half to seven. Mr. Threlkcld's brought five, Mr. John's six and a quarter, Mr. Grey's three and a half. In Southdowns, Mr. John's fetched £3 3s. in Romney Marshes Mr. Bidwell's two and a half to five, Messrs. Mackenzie and Lovelock's two and a half to three, Mr. A. Mackenzie's one and three-quarters, Mr Pearce's two to three, Mr. McLennan's two and a- half to three, Messrs. Grey Brothers' lambs one and a half. Shropshires, Mr. Johns' £4 4s, Mr. Mackenzie's one and a half.
BUCKLAND'S REPORT. (Special to "News"). Auckland, April 5. Messrs Afred BuckTand and Sons report that at Remuera on Thursday dairy cows sold from £2 10s to £B, according to quality; dry cows £2 to £4, strong calves to 30s, small 15s to 21s. There were no grown store steers yarded. Of fat young calves there was a full supply. Prices ranged from 2s to 555.
There was an average yarding of fat cattle of choice quality, which met with a steady demand throughout at an advance on late sales. Ox beef sold to 23s' per lOOlbs, cow to 2!)s, steers £5 10s to £l2 2s Cd, cows £3 10s to £7 12s Od. Steep were in full supply and sold well throughout. Heavy wethers were from 22s to 25s 3d, lighter weights to 20s, weighty ewes to 22s 3d, others 14s to 18s; 1470 were sold. Shorn lambs made 8s Gd to 13s Gd, iu their wool 10s to 10s Dd; G2O sold. Pigs were penned in fair numbers. Porters and bacouers were firmer in value; 82 sold. Friday being a public holiday there was no horse sale held at the Haymarket on Saturday last. At a special clearance farm mares realised from £43 to £4G, and geldings £IU 15s to £2O 10s. Pigs: Porkers £1 4s Cd to £1 7s. NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT. At the Ilaymarkct on Saturday small store pigs made 14s, slips Gs to 10s, suckers 4s to ss, sows £1 7s, mare £4 2s Gd. At the Mail, hens made Is to Is Sd, pullets Is Gd to Is Dd, cockerels Is Id to 2s Kid, chicks 5d to Od, turkeys ss.
Fruit: At sales during the week choice apples made Gs to 8s per 401b box, inferior apples 2s Gd to 3s Gd, passions 2s to 3s Gd, rock melons ss, cooking pears 5s to Gs, bananas 3s (id to 8s per case, oiangcs 5s to 10s, lemons 2s to 4s Gd. Cattle: At Waiwakaiho on Tuesday, bidding was quiet, and a good many lines went home. Calves made Lis Gd to 18s Gd, 2 vear heifers 38s, store cows 22s Gd to 3»s, forward do. £2 5s to £2 12s Gd. On Wednesday at 'l'e Koru I held a clearing sale on account of Mr Win. Jeffrey. There was a good attendance, and everything was well competed for. The cows were a nice lot, and, considering the' time of the year, sold well. Cows in milk and to calve early made £4 to £5 10s, aged do. and late'ealvers £2 5s to £3 10s, trap horse £2O, harness mare £l3, spring traps £0 to £8 10s, plough £4 ss. At Eahotu oh Thursday good calves made 14s to 17s, 18 mos. heifers 2Gs Gd, 18 mos. steers 37s to £2, store cows ,30s to 4Gs.
TICKERS AND STEVEN'S' REPORT. Vickers ami Stevens report that there was a fair yarding of cattle in their inglcwood yards on Wednesday last. Calves made from 10s (id to J7s, 18 months heifers £1 12s to £1 18s, 18 nros. to 20 mos. steers £2 4s (id to £2 i)s (id, store cows .-CI to £3, fat heifers £3 Ds (id. MESSRS YOUNG, HOBUS AND CO.'S WOOL, HIDE & SKIN SALES. On Tuesday, 2nd Aprd, we held our usual four-weekly hide, wool, sheepskin and tallow sale, and were encouraged with a further increase in our catalogue in all departments except wool. Buyers were represented from all parts with the result that all lines met with favourabe competition. We were especially complimented by buyers on the up-to-date methods used in displaying our splendil catalogue of hides. We are now in a position to show off hides to the advantage of our clients ■equal to any broker in the North Island. We sold hides as usual at per lb, and judging from the satisfaction displayed by the vendors and purchasers we anticipate that ail the brokers will, pefore long, adopt this, the most satisfactory method. Hides made a rise of '/„<l to i/id per lb. Our catalogue of tallowwas of excellent quality and showed a marked vise from (he previous sale. Wool and sheepskins were slightly easier but met with good demand at </ t d per lb lower than late rates. We quote: Hides—Butchers' cowhides (IJ4 to b%, freezers' light cowhides fii/ B d, medium do. (ii/iil,'settlers' 5%d to G'/ S d, cut and slippy 4% to 3%d. Ca. fskins—Hood V/ a \\, slippy and <<ut S'/.d.
Wool—Hecce Sd to SV.il, lambs' Sd to B%d. Sheepskins—Woolly skins 7'/, to Sd per lb, butchers' pelts up to Syui, damaged skins jd to s</,d, lamb skins ({free aged skins 3d to s'/.d, lamb skins (green) 2s (id. Taliow in tins made 20s to 27s fid per cwt while eask tallow made up to «7s 3d per cwt.
