ELEPHANTS' REVENGE.
NVTIVE ACCOUNT OF A DRAMATIC REVENGE. TJhc (following tragic story of tlic •death of Fargaua Barahabhum, Khcra of Dalma, is related in the native paper, "Maubhuni." "Pargana Barahabhum went to liis paddy field, and found a herd o< {Repliants destroying his crop. His rage .rose, ho shot arrows from behind a •fc'r«i and he killed a young elephant. "Then the greatness of his crime fell on the mind of Pargana Barauabhum, and he lied to his cottage for refuge. But the elephant's father and mother wove stricken with rage, and they and their fellows charged the cottage, and razed '.t to the groundl, "Paragami Barahabhum was wily, and he climbed a tree to ihe topmost bough. The elephants surrounded it. and roared, but they could not reach Paragana Barahabhum. But their sagacity was great, and with their own ■trunks they brought water from the VBimJ, and tfjicy watered the. ground at the root of the tree. ) "When they had Afaterel well and the earth was softj, tliey uprooted the Jirou. Then they avenged the death of «h» <r young by trampling the life out of Paragana Barahabhum.
