FOOTBALL.
Per Press Association. Auckland, April 2. A meeting of delegates of I'nivc.rsity football clubs pas.-nl a resolution allirming the desirability of establishing :.n annual football match with Sydney University. DIVISIONAL RK-DISTRIIU.'TION. Amongst tlie more important subjects of immediate club interest that will engage the attention of delegates at the foirthcoming Rugby Cnioii meeting is the re-arrangement of boundaries. A whol 1 - sale revision might well be considered, but meantime the question of granting Kapbnga a district in the southern division is of paramount importance. As the majority of clubs favor Illc pi'oproposai, there is little doubt but that it will be granted. The southern division would then have seven senior clubs, and Ihe northern division live is at present. To equalse matters, the Klthaiu club is endeavoring to be attached to the northern district, and every argument seems to favor the Kltham players' request. .In the lirst place, the Kllham half-holiday Is on Thursday, as in North Taranaki, an.l the club can put a much stronger t;ain in the Held on Thursdays than on Saturdays, when the southern fixtures are decided. Then the fact of there being and equal number of clubs in each division assures the cup lixtures being finished simultaneously. And perhaps what is of more importance io players, travelling expense., and loss of time] will be minimised considerably, as the long journeys of the Eltliani.'Opunako, Mannia, and Patea teams would be curtailed. Playing in the southern- division, the Eltliam players lose five full days in travelling for ordijjiry cup matches, while were they plnvimr'-in the north division, they would only sacrifice a day and a half in the season, and travel wholly by train instead of largely by long brake journeys. The inclusion would involve practically no additional travelling and no kiss o ftiino on tho part of the clubs in the north division, as the ordinary afternoon train would suit for journey to Eltliam equally ;l5 well as to Stratford. Interest in the cup contests would undoubtedly be enhanced by the change, which it'is to be hoped will be brought about.
