Mr. Newton King is on a visit to Christchurch. lie will return at the end of the present week. Mrs. Ambrose Darby, mother of Mrs. 11. Kirbv. of New Plymouth, for -10 years a member of the Chelmsford Hoard of Guardians, died at Chelmsford on January 8, after a short illness, thus closing a long life of usefulness.
