Services held at St. Mary's Church throughout Good Friday were attended by Targe congregations. - At the close of evening prayer the choir rendered Mahler's oratorio "The Crucifixion," The solo parts were taken by .Messrs. licnningtou, Woodward, and Mallet, and soloists and choir rendered the beautiful music in a devotional and sympathetic man-. uer. Although the choir was not large on account of so many members being awav, the rendering of the. whole service' relleeled great credit on all connected with it, and the hope was expressed that other musical works of a similar nature would be given in St.. Mary's Church at no distant date. We understand that there is a probability of Mr. Maughau Baruct.t giving a recital shortly, but failing this the organist and choir will give a recital of sacred music in the course of a week or two. The second New Zealand tour of Messrs Meynell and Gnnn's famous "Fatal Wedding" Company will commence at Jnvercargill on March 2oth for four nights. The new romantic military drama "The Midnight Wedding" will form the principal attraction of the tour, with tho celebrated actor, .Mr llarcourt Realty, as "Paul Valium-, swordmaster of the Hussars." Mr Realty will be most favorably recollected as the leading man for Miss Nellie Stewart and Musgrovefr* "Swett Neil" Co,, and his magnificent performances with this combination has endeared him to all theatre-goers. Mr Realty's performance in the "Midnight Wed•dling" is said to be the greatest of this artist's characterisations. All the old favor appear with tie company, including Miss May Cogjlnn. Several new plays will he included in the repertoire, in addition to the ''Midnight Wedding," whilst a revival of that immensely popular musical drama, "The Wedding," is promised, for which purpose, the management are bringing the, entire "Tin Can" band of 40 trained children with the company. This play I is generally regarded as tho biggest success that has toured New Zealand. After Invcrcargill tie combination wili open at His Majesty's, Dune-Jin, on Eas'tor Saturday. Seasons in all the leading centres will he given and most of tho leading small towns will follow.
