Canterbury mutton is quoted at 4<i per lb, North Island brands 3%d.
Tile lamb market is dull aiul stocks 011 hand heavy. The demand is expected to increase. The average price of Canterbury lamb is 5d per lb # other than Canterbury brand 4%d. The beef market is dull, and the supply exceeds the demand. The average price is 3%d and 2%d for hind and fore qua i ters respectively. Tlie butler market is steady and prices are well maintained for choicest quality owing to short supply. The market is dull fur second-class quality, as the supply exceeds the demand. Current quotalions arc: Choicest New Zealand 101s, Argentine 100s, Yictoriau Oils, Danish Ills per cwt. j The cheese market is quiet. Prices I art- slightly weaker, willi less demand, I at li-ls per cwt.
The hemp market is nUIuT unsettled. Prices are slightly weaker. Co<hl far grade on spot is quoted at ;C37, AprilJune shipment JCoO, and fair current .Manila on spot £.' so.
The cocksfoot seed market is firm, but., buyers' are not keen to do business. There i*, however, no pressure to sell. The current quotation is 52s cwt. of 171b., bright, dean-dressed seed.
