Camphell-Bannerman, in a letter to Mr Beaumont, a Commoner, declared that 'there was not an atom of foundation for the report that the Government was not in earnest about the House of Lords. lie also wrote' 'to Mr MaeArness that the fiovernmcnt would not disappoint, the expectations of the Party, or fall to give effect to the purpose declared in the King's speech.
