(From Our Own Correspondents. WAKEA. A meeting of tlie Taranaki Pel'orm League was held last Thursday evening. Mr. J. liurgess presided over a' small attendance. Several speakers came from Xew Plymouth, and spoke of the aims of the League. \l was decided to form a branch. The press correspondents were not allowed to report the proceedings. The Warea sports will be held to-dav (Wednesday, 2lllh), and all we want to make them a success is line weallcr. The nominations for the chopping and running events am very good, being more numerous than was expected. The working bees have been busy this hist duy or (wo getting things read v. The Domain Hoard are building a shed on the Recreation Ground, which isnearlv finished, Mr. Harry Pelhaiu being the builder. A room will be set apart for the secretary and the other for the competitors to change themselves. Heavy rain has lieen falling here up till time of writing. Mr. and Mrs. J. Knight are leaving this district this week to take up a position on the East Coast. This district is too damp for them.
