In the House of Commons, Mr Asquith, in reply to Colonel Vincent, said there were many causes contributing to the decline of Government stocks and other high-class securities. These were international in operation." He instanced the necessity of replacing the capital destroyed by the San Francisco earthquake and other disasters. The best remedy, so far as the Government's influence was concerned, was to reduce expenditure, strengthen the sink'ng fund, and avoid borrowing for current expenditure. ,
