| Per Press Association. Nelson, March P.I. The Supreme Court Sessions opened Ibis morning, when Mr. Justice Dennistoii again congratulated the district i,n the comparative absence of crime. There were two cases only, and true bills wen l lound in each. John AVilliain llawkes was found guilty of assaulting a child, but with a strong r-icommendiition to mercy. The Judge concurred with the jury, and deferred sentence. The trial of William Hellany, the younger, charged with converting to his own use a sum of C27(l belonging to the estate of the late William Wilkie, of which accused was a trustee, has commenced, and continues to-morrow. A'apier, .March lit. At the Supreme Court to-dav, Stella Marsden and Henry Tate, who both pleaded guilty to a charge of theft from the person, were sentenced to six and three months respectively. A verdict of not guilty was returned in the eases of Mary Ann Vocasivieh, charged with concealment of birth, and Thomas Todd, carnally knowing. Michael Itnrrv, who had pleaded guilty mi the previous dav to a charge of theft, was admitted to probation for two years.
