BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Works Committee of the Borough Council met on Wednesday afternoon. There were present ■ His Worship the Mayor and Cr. Browne. It was decided to make the following recommendations to the Council at its next meeting:—

That Col. Messenger be permitted to lay a drain across Octavius Plaeo into Mt. Bryan lkserve, the work to be done under the supervision of the Engineer.

That consideration of the question of re-laying the water-main in the Beereation Grounds be deferred to enable further information to be obtained from the Fire Brigade. That Mr H, Crann be paid for the two weeks during which lie was laid up.

That Mr Drew's request that the old culvert at Pendaryes Street should be cleaned out be referred to the foreman t j give effect to.

That the recommendation of the toreman to raise the road at the corner of Kobe and Y ivian street (estimated cost £2O ss), be given ell'eet to.
