A London cable announces the death of the Marchioness of Kipon. The Hon. Mr McxN'ab, Minister for Linds, returned to Auckland from his northern tour on Saturday evening, and left for Wellington yesterday. He will spend about a week in Wellington. Mr C. S. Kelly, who li is for some months past lilled a position on the reporting stall of our evening contemporary, loaves this morning to take up an appointment at Gis borne. One of tho oldest identities of New Plymouth, in the person of Mr William 11. Shaw, passed away yesterday (Sunday) morning. Deceased, who was 83 years of age, came to Taranaki in 1849, and for many years followed the occupation of a carpenter He leaves a widow and a grown-up family of seven, two sous and live daughters. The condition of Mr J. O. Ueorgo has not improved. He spent a had night on .Saturday, and is gradually gett'ug weaker. . At Inglewood on Thursday, the pupils of the lll'lh and sixth standards inauo a presentation to Jlr Buinside, who has been appointed an Inspector under the Auckland Education lioard, , on the termination of his connection with tho school.
