CANTERBURY MEN STRIKE. Chbistchuucii, February 26. The slaughtermen, have struck. Th« freezing companies are notifying client* not to forward stock till further ad. vised.
The men at the Fairfield Freezing Works (Ashburton) have gone out demanding '26s per 100, Tiie men at Sraithfield Works (Ti. maru) have also gone out. There is no stock oa hand, and the booking of freezers has been stopped.
TEMPORARY HANDS SECURED Chbistchubcjli February 25. Work at the freezing works at Belfast and Islington will be resumed to* morrow with as many casual hands u slaughtermen as can be procured. The companies have not much stock coming in, and it is oxpected that what comes forward can be dealt with. It is not anticipated that there will be any trouble botween the casual hands and the strikers to-morrow morning.
