Melbourne. February 21. Mr Dcakin, explaining his intention? at the Imperial Conference, indicated I that he would support the Conference being made an Imperial Council, consisting of the Prime Ministers of the colonies who would meet periodically or otherwise, and hold consultations by an organised system of correspondence with a permanent secretary who would gather and collate information. He also indicated that he would advocate preference between the colonics, and that Great Britain should give as well as receive preference. Both Houses adopted the Address-in-Reply.
The cost of the late Federal elections was £4(i,b7'J. The electors enrolled totalled 2,109,562, whereof 52.21 voted.
