THE SWKTT.ENIIAJIDAVIS INCIDENT. A MISTAKE EXPLAINED. Received 4th, 9.5t> p.m. London, February 4. The Times' Kingston correspondent, in a. letter dated the lyth, says the -landing of American marines was an error due to a misconception of his duties by one of Jiir J. A. Swettenham's subordinates. Sir J. A. Swettenham, on iearnig what had occurred, \hanked Admiral Davis for his prompt and friendly action, and requested that be withdraw his force, for whose services there waa no use whatever.
