He declares he was detained in Fa hims house for a fortnight and beaten frequently until he signed an agieey ment to pay Feliiui 20 per centum of the profits of his business. lUe Sultan, in response to the German Embassy's demand, has appoint ed a Commission to enquire into tinalleged exaction and seizure.
Germany, supported by Britain, demands tlie punishment of Fehim Pasha, .Chief of Secret Police at Yildiz, for extortion and seizure of timber o i board a British snip bound for Ham burg. Fehim Pasha is a general ol' a division anil an aide-de-camp of the Sultan's, and is said to hays black mailed, residents for years. The incident, owing to Germany's intervention, lias caused somewhat of a sensation.
