Per Press Association. D ANNEviiiKE, January 31. An elderly man named Edward Wright whilst engaged in cutting firewood at Mangatera, was injured by a | log slipping, and succumbed. Wkluncton, January 31. Westport Payne, a seaman of tho steamer luui slipped from the rigging and died immediately. He was suffering from heart disease. Nelson, January 31. A fatal accident occurred at the Nelson Prick, Pottery nml Tile Company's works ibis afternoon. Alex, ander, Lonsdale} Baldero was at the; brake steadying the descent of clayladen trucks, when he appears to have got entangled, and to have been violently dashed round. The accident wa- not heen, but his fellow workmen, hearing 'the crash, slopped the machinery and found deceased wilii his neck broken and the upper portion of his body much injured. Deceased leaves a widow and two children.
