The following has been received from tne High Commissioner, under date London, January 2lith:— Mutton market steady. Average price of Canterbury brands 4 :l /,d and North Island 4%d per lb. The lamb market is overstocked and depressed, and affected by expected heavy arrivals. This season's New Zealand lamb i, quoted nominally at fid per lb. The average price of Aus tralian lamb is 4'/,d per lb. The beef market is weak.. ..The average price of New Zealand beef is 3%d and 2%d per lb for hind and forequarters respectively. The butter market is dull on account of heavy arrival-. There is a . general and active demand, however. : for ihe shilling trade. Some holders < n_f butler are forcing sales.
