The debate . >m the motion approving of the appointment of a secretary for the province took place, and, after discussion in committee, clauses dealing with tlm secretary's duties were amended and adopted by tiie Synod. Tile Rev. \V. W. Sedgwick's motion, relating to obsenance of the Jubilee throughout 'he province and the Pan-Anglican (. ongress, were considered in coinmiticc, and adopted by the Synod, to the ellect that this General Synod do request the Jiishops to arrange for general observance of the Jubilee throughout tlie province, und'that tuo Jii»hops of tlie province be requested to issue special services for Thursday, June 13th, and Sunday, June Kith thioughoiit their respective diocesew, A special r.ommittoe <jp Education Trusts reported that,, having can-full/ examined tlie "Separate Endowed Schools Hill," recommends that every member of the General Synod direct and indirect through every member of the Church in the province of NeV Zealand be used to prevent tlie passage of any such measure through the Legislature. The Bill would abolish the present trustees of Te Aule and \\ angauui Collegiate schools endowments, u ould create new boards each of live members, two of whom would be appointed by the Government without any conveyance or assurance whatever, take from -existing trustees lauds the now hold in trust, together with a» buildings thereon, and would transfer the same to new boards with all the powers of management and control. Jiy clause lU, the Wanganui Collegiate School Trust Hoard will be compelled to hand over 110 lety than 20 acres of endowment lands to the Board of Governors of the High School if established under 'tiie Education Act, 1904. J!y clause 114, provisions which by tire Bill apply only to Te Auto and Wan- ' ganni Trusts may be made to apply "1 o the lands mimed in any grant »r group of grants for educational purposes, it is scarcely necessary to point out that although educational endowments, directly assailed in this , liill, belong to the Church of England, yet this enormous tyowcr if granted would jeopardise endowments of every J denominational body in New Zea.land."
