-MANSION iSTHEWN WITH NOTES AND GOLD. London, December 1. A remarkable romance of an old country mansion that was found 'to be actually littered with wealth was told m Dublin before the Master of the Bolls yesterday in connection witli the administration of the estate of the late Mrs .Megan, who owned a house in Co. Meath and another in St. Stephen's green, Dublin, Mrs Megan died in IPSO, ami made daughter her heiress and executrix. The daughter in turn died about a year ago. Tue personal-estate was va lied at .C.10,000, a large portion of which was to be devoted to buildiiur three hospitals in Dublin, and a valuer was called in to make an inventory of the contents. The report contains some astounding details. Every passag,; in the house and every room in'Vliicv, access could be obtained was packed with parcels of every description, old papers, deed boxes, valuable pieces of (oinitiire. -.ind old silver, all thrown about in confusion. Bank of England and Bank of Ireland notes of different values, pieces of newspaper, all thrown carelessly aside in wasleptper basket's. Sov.figns were found oil the lloor of every room, on the stairs, and hidden away in tea cups and vases, and even in the kitchen utensils. There were also large sums represented in imcashcd cheques, dated in some cases upward of litt-y years back. Plate chests containing large quan lilies of silver were found under great p'les of papers, nnd .judging from their appeareanee, they had been untouched for ilecad.s. Large quantities of wearing apparel were also found, gowns in some instances being coveted with rare old Irish laee. In every page of the valuer's notebook occurs such a phrase t; -Found live pound note amoiie.-t the rubbish." When He lady's other house in Si. Stephen's green was examined it was found to be in. if possible, a worse condition that the mansion at Meath, but valuable.- were not thrown about in such extraordinary fashion.
