* BKEAK-UP OP THE DItOUGJIT Per Press Association. Masiekto.v, January 12. There was a thunderstorm yesterday afternoon, accompanied by ram and hail. This was the first fall of rain for four weeks. It is raining heavily this morning and there is every indication of the drought having finally broken.
Kai'ikd,,January 12. An exceptionally heavy downpour of ram last nighl will do an immense amount of good. Visitors to the backcountry report that the need for ram is greatly fell, and in some districts horse supplies have to be carted long distances,
Wixuxotox, January VI. A pleasanl break in the long spell of Iry wealher was experienced this .norning, when heavy rain fell for ihmil. an hour. The weather has, however, again cleared, and the heat wave still continues.
Asiiuceton, January 13. After an exceptionally lengthy dry period, a very welcome rain set in at nine o'clock on Saturday evening, and •iontiuued steadily throuehout the] night. The downpour should do a' great deal of good lo .pasture. Auckland, January 13. A north-east gale with heavy rain lias set m, and a heavy downpour has eontinned since an early hour this morning. There is no sign of its abatement.
