PERSONAL.
Messrs W. Blake and C, liovell, of iN T ew Plymouth, proceeded to Wellington to-day to enter the police force. Mr Alfred Burton, well-known in New Plymouth, some years ago "in advance " of Pollards, 'is in town at present representing the Bioscope Company which opens on Wednesday night.
Amongst the visitors at tho White Hart at present are the following : Johnson, Cunningham, Price, Mr and Mrs Meßetli (Wellington), Capt. Bart (Sydney), Williams, Peap, Holt, Morris (Wangauui), Harris" Auckland), Mr and Mrs Powdrell (Waverley). Mr L.O.Hooker is anxious to be relieved of his duties as the district representative at the Taranaki Court in the New Zealand Exhibition. Mr Hooker recently suffered from a very severe attack of influenza, and js now desirous of returning to Taranaki ou account of further illness in his family. The following are amongst the I visitors staying at the Criterion Hotel ■ —Mr and Mrs W. W. Johnston, Wanganui; Mr li. T. Batlcy, Moawliango; Mr Lowe, Wellington ; Mr G. L. Cooke, Stratford ; Messrs Durranli and. S telling, England; Mrs Matthews, Misses Matthews (2), Auckland ; Mr J. P. Cooke, Hurleyville, Miss A. Sadler, who is leaving this morning on a holiday trip to ChristcUirch., vrfs made, the surprised recipient yesterday of a handsome morocco dressing-case, presented by the staff at Mr C Carter's grocery establishment Miss Sadler has been connected with the business for a very long period, and has at all times been most obliging and helpful to all her fellow-employees, and they eagerly seized this opportunity of showing their appreciation.
