DEPUTATION TO THE MINISTER FOR EDUCATION.
, Oil Saturday evening, a deputation of thi' Taranaki Education Board, comprising AI issi's AVaile (chairman), (i. Tiseh, and I'. S. Whitoombe, waited upon the lion. (ioo. l' : owlds, Minister for Education, 011 tlio mail train Mr W. 'i\ Jennings, .VI.U.K., introduced the deputation, who proceeded to place several matters before the Minister. The matter of the technical school grants _ was first, brought up, the Minister intimating that an amending Act making it possib|e fuv local bodies to contribute to such an object would be introduced next session. The Minister promised that tile matter of obtaining grants for the erection of moveable schools for the backbloeks would be favourably considered by the Government, Other matters brought before the Minister were the incident of capitation grants; grants for 't|ie purpose of bringing old schools and teachers' residences more in line with present rcijuiremcnts; and ways and means for the erection of new oflices on the Board's property near the technical school site.'
