AX INIQUITOUS CKARCiE. TV the Kilitor. Sir.—lt is'witli_cuutUleiife that mv appeal foj»l,, w j|[ ]lot |„. j„ lloV ed to you in reference to ■tfic dog tax. Is it too laic fur some action to he taken in order to rescind the resolution of the Borough Council's lixing the outrageous sum of 10/ as the License Fee for the ensuing year? Last year a number of owners were compelled to slaughter their faithful friends and companions through inability to provide the required sum, and during the next two months many more will be destroyed unless the amount is reduced. Would it be possible to induce those conn-
cillors who are responsible for this iniquitous tax to start a pawn shop': It would not only enable the poor widow to retain the faithful friend of her late husband, but it would find a new work for the councillors in managing such an institution, a work for which their Shylock propensities makes them well 'fitted.—f am, etc., A WIDOW •\ViTH A DOti.
