The "pull-toyether" plan of the West Knd h-iuselioiders bore fruit, as usual, in the success oi' tl.e baz-iar arranged to raise money in aid of the school prize fund and the school fund. The coimnifs.ee and workers have had a ! very liusj time of late, and. the le-ich-ers I--i-,j- conio in io-- their fu'l share of work, worry, and arrangement. Thursday broke wet and miserable, lii't in the afternoon, when Mr Dockrill, the Mayor, performed tl.e opening ceremony, the- elements had become favourable. The at tendance was eonseouently large, and good business done ill every department. Among the vi-oturs were the '.Ma.vor and .Mrs Doekrill. Mr K il. Smith, aud .Mrs Sicitli, Hev. Kvaus, aud liev. Nixmi. The toy stalls, doll stalls, and the 'Christmas trees claimed the attention of the children, whilst to draw th;. nimble sixpence from the adult there was a well-appointed and wellattended afternoon tea room, with mur-ical items given in; a plain work stall, and a fancy work d'epartinent. [>roduce and llower stalls, and all manner of means of trying one's luck. Little boni|uet girls aud rntiiing agents of all sizes and ages mingled with the crowd. A modernised e.v tract of "Nursery lihymes'' depicted a lady sitting in a shoe, and she had so many dolls she didn't know what to do; .so she sold them. Ttowers and pot plants made a. very pretty array. In tiie doll-dressing competition, the results were: Ciirls under 17 years, ■May Hack 1.
