Constable Hyde, of Mtrulford, is at present ill town, awaiting the result of an operation tn be performed cn his little son at the hospital. W. P. Aldridno, of the local telegraph staff, has been transferred to the cable sl.-ition at Wakapuaka, and leaves on Balurilay. Mr Morton, of the Waka ollice, fills the vacancy here.

Htm. Geo. McLean, M.L.C., aud fo 1 ' many years a director of the Union S.tS. Co., is seriously ill, so seriously that his relations were sent for on Monday, says a Press wire from ])uncdiu. Though he was belter yesterday, his condition is still causing his friends disquietude.
