PETROLEUM NEWS.
The bulk of the plant for boring on the Bonithon property on the Southroad is now on the ground. Boring will probably be in full swing by January next.
The .Mount Fgmont Petroleum Syndicate, most of whose capital is held in Sydney, is negotiating for the purchase of plant, and expects to start boring operations on Mr Dan Penwarden's farm at Omata about March next. Tho directors of the Taranaki Oil and Freehold Company have decided delinitely not to let the contract for putting down bores, but wilU undertake the whole work. To-night. Mcf-srs Petrie and Lamb, representing Taranaki oil boring companies, propose waiting on ihe lion J, A. Miliar. .Minister of Customs, with a request that }.ho import duty and steamer freight oil boring plants should be reduced.
