DEEP LEVEL MINING.

(Per Press Association.) Thames, December 6. Statements haye been circulated as to the indignation at the Thames re- j garding deep level deyelopments. A few interested persons disagree with Mr McGowan in regard to his references to the district's apathy in the matter, but generally it is admitted that the statements are, unfortunately, too true, Nothing practical has been done in the matter of deep level development for the past 10 years, not even a meeting called to discuss a scheme. Owing to the practical step of the voting of a thousand pounds by the Borough Council, it is hoped that more activity will be shown, and that as a result of the Minister's remarks some feasible scheme will be adopted, so that the £IO,OOO Government subsidy may be claimed.
