ELECTRIC TRAMWAYS SCHEME.
Messrs ltoberts and Stokes, in a " letter to the New Plymouth iorough Council, wrote that the firm .as pieparcd, if the Council would ;rant certain concessions, to lay lown tlie who'c of the plant, rolling j jck, appliances, and tracks of an ■lectric tramway from Fitzroy to llie I Breakwater. They asked for tiie sole and exclusive right, power, libelty and authority to carry out the system in the borough of New Plymouth, and for power to take fares, tolls, and charges for the use of the system when laid down. They required the right to work the tramways for 30 years, the Council to have the right then to purchase the undertaking at a valuation. The Counci: was asked to pay the cost of raising, removing, or altering any of the electric light wires that might be necessary for tlie erection of the tramway trolley wires or feeders, to lease ! ae of its sections at a nominal rental for the building of the powerhouse, car-shed, and office; and ti grant two years' time in which to complete arrangements, prepare p'ant and specifications, and submit same to Parliament to obtain an Order-in- | Council. The letter was referred to a committee consisting of the Mayor, and Crs. Wilson, Parker, Browne, and Hutchen to confer t.vith Messrs Roberts and Stokes.
