OUTRAGE IN ROME.
BOMB EXPLOSION AT St. PETERS. SERVICE CLOSED AMID GREAT COXFUSIOS. Roue, November 18. A bomb exploded near tue high altar of St. Feter's Church, Komc, during service this morning. No one was injured. The Pope immediately ordered the closing of the church. Saint Feter's was crowded at the time of the explosion. Tremendous and indescribable confusion prevailed. MULTITUDE PAN IC-STKICK EN". CANON'S PRESENCE OF MIND GRAVE DISASTER NARROWLY AVERTED. Beeeived 19, 9.15 p.m. Roue, November 19. St. Peter's had been beautifully decorated in honor of the anniversary of its dedication. The Holy relics wwe exposed. The attendance was exceptionally large. Cardinal Eampolla was assisting the choir in the chapel, and the last Masses were over when the Canon at the altar of Saint Peromelia in the right aisle, clo«e to where the explosion occurred, started to pronounce the Blessing. A tremendous roar echoed through the building, and dense smoke spread everywhere, with a strong smell of gun powder. The Canon vainly tried to stop the panic by shouting .hat it was only the Noon-day gun. The terror was so great that the multitude rushed for the doors, overturning the chairs. Some of the women fainted and children screamed
A grave disaster seemed imminent, when the smoke cleared, and the panic was allayed. The building escaped damaged.
