The "Situation in France,'' apparently an in pircd letter, written by the Pope, and which was published in the "Osservators Romano," directs Cardinal Respighi, Vicar-General at Rome, to order special prayers for the enemie- of the Church. His Holi-nt-ss declares this is the only nrans left him in the present grievous condition of the Church, fought and oppress ed by many of her own children, who became her enemies.
