PERSONAL.
Mr C. E. Major, M.H.R. for Han-era, was in New Plymouth on Saturday. Mr Justice Edwards, why has been in Wellington with inlliienzi for about ten days, is now able to leave his bed, and willj probably return to Auckland this week. Now Zealand lias been constituted a separate country for the purpose of the Amalgamated Society o£ Carpenters and Joiners, and the ri;;ht to send a delegate to tho triennial conference at Manchester, England, lias been given to this country. Mr W. H. Hamps. ton, of Wellington, lias been olecicd first delegate. The Chief Veterinarian, Mr J. A. Gitrulh, has been granted leave of absence to take a six months' course of study in the latest discoveries con- . uected with, pathology and allied sciences at the Pasteur Inst ; lute. During his absence, Lis duties will be : carried out by Mr C. J Keakes, , Assistant-Chief Veterinarian.
Mrs Harrison has been selected by the Pungarehu school committee lor appointment as sole teacher for that school.
