The Borough Council meets this evening. The Sydney-Vancouver despatch of O 'tober 2nd arrived in London on the morning of the btli ust, The first statutory meeting of the T.iranaki Oil and Freehold Company will be held this evening in the lown Hall at 7 o'clock. We are in receipt of the South British Insurance Coy's calendar for 1907. Mr E. I'. Webster is district agent for the Fire, Marine and Accident branch of the Company, and Messrs W. J. Shaw and Co, chief agents for the Accident Branch. The Junior National Scholarship examinations will be held in New Plymouth and Stratford 011 Tuesday and Wednesday, 11th and 12th December, Mr W. E. Spencer supervising at New Plymouth, and Mr W. A. Ballantyne at Stratford. The Civil Servants junior examination mil be held about, if possible, December loth, and will last a week. In January the teachers' D and C examinations and the Senior Civil Servants examinations will be held at New Plymouth from the sth to the 17th inclusive.
