My name has been bandied about for months past at the Council table, and the engineer has reported on my work in all manor of ways—most favourable unf monih, contradicting himself the next, .nid so on. What to know now is, whether the Council is in earnest in :1s reported intention to determine the contract. If it is, then let it do so, or at any rate try it. If it has no such intention, then it is time that the game of bluff ceased, as I for one am not going to stand having my reputation as a contractor stigmatised in such an unwarranted manner. The methods of the Council are 6uch as might seriously injure me in future works, and if this is a game of bluff, 111 which I am thp, butt, then 1 demandthat an Epology shall be offered me.— ; I am, etc, I.
