OPINION OP A LONDOS"™ * CHEMIST. ' DUE TO TREATMENT WITH LiMJi. (Per Press Association). GiauoHNE, November 8, Messrs Common, Bhelton and Co.. Gisborne, have received the following communication relative to fires on wool ships, from their London agents-.—Wa took the matter up with the well-known chemist for the .Royal Agricultural Society,, Dr. V.A. Volcker, and sub. mitted two samples of damaged wool and one of undamaged. Both the damaged lots had beon treated with lime. Dr. Volcker says he believes the whole trouble is due to the treat, rnent the wools undergo with the lime process, being turned out too quickly and not thoroughly dry.
