BURGLARS IN CHRISTCHURCH.
HOTEL BOARDERS ROBBED. Christchurch, November 8. About 2.30 this morning a boarder a' the Royal Hotel was somewhat start led by hearing a noise in his room, and 011 investigation he found a man near his bed, searching h.s pockets. The burglar as soon as ho noticed that he had been seen, bolted out of the door and along the passage to the fire escape at the end of the building, with the boarder in hot pursuit. Tue latter was unable to overtake his quarry, however, before he descended the.ladder, and made good his escage. It is stated that this was not th© only room entered, as another gentleman stay.ng at the hotel was relieved of £2 10/.
The Star Hotel was also visited last nght by some of the light-fingered fraternity, and the rooms occupied by a number of boarders were entered and anything at ali valuable stolen.
